R. Ophoff

R SampleNetwork 0.04

When analyzing methylation assays with Prof R. Ophoff and S. Horvath at UCLA, I packaged a number of functions and methods to perform batch effect cancelation (ComBat) and SampleNetwork analyses (WGCNA). The R package integrates, simplifies and rewrites methods from ComBat and WGCNA to enable faster data analyses (less interactivity, data structures) and to produce reporting (pdf, Sweave). For more information, see ComBat and WGCNA.

Research collaborations

As graduation project, I work in text mining under the guidance of Prof. P. Brazdil ('05, LIAAD, Porto, Portugal) [1].

For my doctoral dissertation supervised by Prof. J.N. Kok ('06-'09, LIACS, Leiden, the Netherlands) [2], I research data mining scenarios capable of breaking down the complexity of diseases presenting clinical heterogeneity. I mainly collaborated with researchers from the LUMC in the Netherlands.

Academic curriculum

I hold an electrical engineering degree from the ESIEA institute ('05, France), a MSc research oriented in data mining from the Lyon II university ('05, France), and a PhD from the University of Leiden ('09, the Netherlands). I received all three degrees with the jury honors.

In the course of '09, I visited as postdoctoral fellow the Soft Computing research group (UPC, Barcelona, Spain), the CIFASIS-CONICET (UNR, Rosario, Argentina) and the LIACS (Leiden University, the Netherlands).

Fabrice Colas

I have worked as postdoctoral researcher in the fields of human genetics and bioinformatics for Prof. R. Ophoff of the University of California Los Angeles, Prof J. N. Kok of the University of Leiden and Dr A. Vellido of the Polytechnic University of Catalunya.

During my PhD supervised by Prof J. N. Kok of Leiden University, I designed data mining scenarios for clinical research and text mining in collaborations with researchers from the Leiden University Medical Center, Pharma-IT, the University of Delft and the University of Porto.
